Job Summary
Mohs Dermatology medical assistant role supporting a licensed physician in clinic and outpatient surgical settings. Responsibilities include assisting during Mohs surgery, maintaining sterile fields, preparing and handling surgical instruments, administering local anesthetics and medications as directed, collecting and documenting specimens in the EHR, explaining procedures and wound care to patients, scheduling Mohs and clinic appointments, and providing patient education to support optimal recovery and care. Key duties involve patient advocacy during exams and surgeries, taking vital signs, preparing examination and procedure rooms, ensuring sterile technique, assisting with instrument handling and suturing, managing specimen labeling and testing, documenting in the EHR (EMA Modernizing Medicine), coordinating with pharmacies for prescriptions, and maintaining organized treatment rooms. Requires 1+ year medical setting experience and 6+ months dermatology surgery experience; thorough knowledge of medical terminology; strong organizational and communication skills; English proficiency; and familiarity with HIPAA guidelines. Required Qualifications
- One (1)+ year experience in a medical setting
- One (6)+ months experience in a dermatological surgery setting
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology
- Prior EMA experience - preferred
- Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications
