Job Summary
Medical Assistant position at Memorial Hermann (Pearland) supporting providers with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, and dressing changes. Responsibilities include taking and recording vitals, assisting with examinations and procedures (including GYN and EKG), performing venipuncture and lab tests, administering medications per the seven rights, preparing patients, reviewing charts, and ensuring adherence to HIPAA/CLIA/NCQA standards. Cross-training to patient access tasks and occasional scheduling flexibility are expected; role emphasizes compassionate, efficient, and personalized patient care within a team-based environment. Requires completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification within 12 months of hire (RMA/CMA/CCMA/NRCMA), BLS/CPR within 30 days, and six months of MA experience or externship, with EMR proficiency and knowledge of ICD9/10 and CPT coding.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or eligible for certification by AMT, AAMA, NHA, or NAHP within 12 months of hire
- RMA, CMA, CCMA, NRCMA certification within 12 months of hire
- Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR within 30 days of hire
- Six months of medical assistant experience or completion of externship
- Knowledge of ICD9/10 and CPT coding and insurance procedures
- Ability to work variable hours including evenings or weekends
- Proficiency with EMR and patient care in a PCMH setting
