Job Summary
Medical Assistant in Metairie (on-site) supporting a physician-led primary care team. Responsibilities include measuring and recording patient vital signs, taking patient history, preparing patients for examinations, assisting with exams, performing basic waived lab tests and phlebotomy, dispensing or processing medications per physician instructions, maintaining supplies and documentation, processing messages, and providing health coaching to defined patient groups. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, collaboration with physicians, clinicians, and office staff, familiarity with EMR systems, and ability to manage patient flow. Requires high school diploma or GED, completion of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant/Patient Care Technician/EMT/Paramedic program, and BLS certification; willing to travel up to 10% and work evenings/weekends/holidays as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Graduation from Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician Program, EMT or Paramedic program
- BLS for Healthcare Providers
- Experience with EMR systems
- 1 year as Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, EMT or Paramedic preferred
- Ability to travel up to 10% locally/regionally
- CPR/First Aid certification
