Job Summary
The Medical Assistant supports patient care in the clinic under the supervision of the LPN/RN, physician, or APP, performing duties such as escorting patients, obtaining vital signs and EKGs, verifying medications and histories, documenting in the chart, routing messages, notifying providers of patient changes, assisting with medication renewals and administration, performing point-of-care lab testing, scheduling procedures, completing prior authorization and referrals paperwork, maintaining supplies, educating patients about MyChart, and aiding in onboarding new medical assistants. The role emphasizes patient interaction, safety, accuracy in documentation, and teamwork to ensure efficient, high-quality care in a hospital-based cancer institute setting in Rolla, Missouri.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program (or equivalent working experience)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification preferred
