Job Summary

Escort patients to exam rooms, interview for medical history, and measure vital signs while administering patient screeners and routine laboratory tests. Administer injections, operate EKG equipment, and perform CLIA waived diagnostic tests under provider direction. Maintain medication supplies, sterilize instruments per OSHA guidelines, and prepare treatment rooms. Accurately record all interactions, ultrasounds, and photos in the Electronic Health Record. Coordinate video visits, troubleshoot technical issues, manage provider schedules, and handle administrative tasks like verifying demographics and scheduling follow-ups. Work Monday through Friday with flexibility for evenings and occasional Saturdays. Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and demonstrate cultural sensitivity with all patients.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant educational program
  • Current BLS certification from an accredited organization
  • Completion of an externship program prior to graduation of Medical Assistant program
  • A minimum of 0-6 months of Medical Assistant work experience post graduating from Medical Assistant program
  • Prior experience working with under-served communities in a community health clinic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and others in a courteous and friendly manner at all times
  • Strong written and verbal English skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) language skills
  • Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures
  • Understanding of medical practices, administrative process and organizational polices
  • Demonstrated computer skills and experience with MS Office
  • Ability to multitask in a fast pace community clinic environment
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail
  • Prior experience using Electronic HealthCare Records (EPIC, OCHIN, NextGen)
  • Flexibility / availability in schedules and shifts
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times and move medical equipment
  • Fine motor hand movements typical of performing standard medical procedures
  • Able to read charts graphs and readings on medical equipment
  • While most work performed in clinic, may occasionally work outdoors and in inclement weather

Desired Qualifications

  • Completion of an externship program prior to graduation of Medical Assistant program desired
  • A minimum of 0-6 months of Medical Assistant work experience post graduating from Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Prior experience working with under-served communities in a community health clinic environment highly desirable
