Job Summary
Medical Assistant supports licensed providers by performing select procedures and office duties to facilitate patient flow. Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, greeting and checking in/out patients, coordinating with laboratory/radiology, maintaining electronic medical records, documenting vital signs and patient concerns, arranging referrals, and assisting with phlebotomy and EKGs. The role also involves coordinating office and support staff, handling patient communications, and managing basic administrative tasks such as scheduling and billing within a physician practice.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical or medical setting; 3 years preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) or obtain within 6 weeks of start
- Familiarity with medical terminology and anatomy/physiology
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and EKGs
- Proficiency with electronic medical records or clinical information systems
- Strong communication and patient-care skills
- Office coordination and scheduling experience
