Job Summary
Certified Medical Assistant for Urgent Care at Mercy Health delivering both indirect and direct patient care under provider supervision. Responsibilities include taking and recording vitals (respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight, temperature), documenting patient needs, assisting with planning and implementing care, administering medications (oral, injection, topical), preparing patients for examinations, and traveling to other facilities as needed. Requires completion of a MA program and active MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NCCT, NRCMA, or NHA) within 12 months of hire, and BLS. Strong clinical and administrative skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and effective communication with patients, families, and care teams are essential. Education includes High School/GED; a post-secondary MA program is preferred. The role operates under Mercy Health in an Urgent Care setting with 36 scheduled hours per week, Day/Evening shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High School/GED (required)
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant post-secondary education program (preferred in all states except South Carolina)
- Active Medical Assisting certification from CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NCCT/NHA/NRCMA (required within 12 months from hire)
- BLS Basic Life Support (required at hire for locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care)
