Medical Assistant (MA) - Primary Care Clinic

Job Summary

Conduct vital signs collection, medication administration, and invasive procedures under provider supervision. Perform appointment scheduling, EKGs, and phlebotomy after competency verification. Manage patient flow by escorting patients to exam rooms and coordinating test arrangements. Maintain medical records, fax pertinent information, and document clinical findings accurately. Prepare exam rooms with sterile instruments and supplies while adhering to infection control protocols. Report changes in patient condition immediately to the healthcare team.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a clinical Medical Assistant training program resulting in a diploma or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or a registered apprentice program certificate
  • Required or Accredited program of Licensed Practical Nursing with an active LPN license
  • Completion of a 160 hour Externship
  • 6 months direct patient care experience in an outpatient setting
  • One year of experience working in school-age student services
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of medical office practice
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments as directed
  • Skill in taking vital signs
  • Skill in maintaining records and recording test results
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians and the public
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Ability to learn and be proficient in electronic health record documentation
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
