Job Summary

Welcome patients, record vital signs and medical histories, and prepare individuals for exams while assisting providers during procedures. Administer medications and vaccines, perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing, and document care accurately in the electronic health record. Partner with physicians and nurses to deliver coordinated care within the ambulatory care team. This role requires a Medical Assistant diploma or equivalent experience and is available M-F 8am-4:30pm with one late shift and rotating Saturdays. Bilingual Spanish/English skills are highly preferred. Join Advocate Medical Group, part of Advocate Health, to support primary care services across Illinois and Wisconsin.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Medical assistant diploma
  • 2 years of medical assistant experience
  • Certified MA with 2 years of medical assistant experience
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Phlebotomy skills
  • Experience working with peds-adults
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions
  • Must be able to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
  • Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions
  • Must be able to perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed
  • Must be able to use protective clothing and equipment as necessary when exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, blood, body fluids, and communicable disease

Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish/English highly preferred
  • Phlebotomy skills preferred
  • Experience working with peds-adults preferred
