Job Summary
Medical Assistant or LPN in a Neurology clinic performing patient intake, vital signs, clerical/clinical documentation, and a range of procedural support. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, monitoring quality-improvement measures, conducting lab procedures (e.g., strep tests, wound culture, specimen collection), assisting physicians with procedures (pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy), administering routine medications under orders or standing protocols, coordinating referrals and scheduling, communicating with the care team, and providing age-appropriate patient care. Requires BLS certification eligibility, completion of MA training or equivalent experience, and strong communication and computer skills. Age-appropriate care understanding and adherence to infection-control guidelines are required.
Required Qualifications
- GED or HS Equivalency Diploma
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 2 years of verifiable full-time MA experience in the last 5 years
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 45 days unless exempt
- Ability to perform routine and complex clinical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport with patients, teammates and physicians
- Proficient computer skills (EMR systems, email, Windows)
