Job Summary
Welcome patients, record vital signs and medical histories, and prepare individuals for exams while assisting providers during procedures. Administer medications and vaccines, perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing, and document care accurately in the electronic health record. Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver coordinated care within the ambulatory care team. Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks vital to patient safety and confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Medical assistant diploma
- 2 years of medical assistant experience
- Certified MA with 2 years of medical assistant experience
- Functional speech
- Functional vision
- Functional hearing
- Functional touch
- Ability to use fine hand manipulation skills
- Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
- Ability to perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation
- Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions
- Ability to sit
- Ability to stand
- Ability to walk
- Ability to lift
- Ability to squat
- Ability to bend
- Ability to reach above shoulders
- Ability to twist frequently
- Ability to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds
- Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force
- Ability to perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
