Job Summary
Medical Assistant I in Family Medicine responsible for patient rooming and vital signs, medication reconciliation, reviewing medical histories, health maintenance and screenings (e.g., depression, suicidality, falls, social determinants of health). Assists providers with procedures, performs venipuncture and other lab duties, conducts POCT and CLIA-waived tests, administers medications and vaccines per safety guidelines, and handles administrative tasks such as insurance authorizations, scheduling, referrals, and supply management. Cross-trained to support clinic practice, maintain clean work environment, and ensure age-appropriate patient care. Requires effective communication, teamwork, and adherence to department policies; familiarity with growth and development principles and ability to work across age groups; strong computer and EMR skills; ability to lift up to 35 pounds and operate clinical equipment safely.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military clinical training per DD214 in lieu of a formal MA program
- BLS certification (AHA) required or to be obtained within 45 days in some divisions
- Experience: No experience required
- Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within MA scope
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient computer skills including EMR usage
