Job Summary
Welcome patients, record vital signs and medical histories, and prepare individuals for exams while assisting providers during procedures. Administer medications and vaccines, perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing, and document care accurately in the electronic health record. Partner with physicians and nurses to deliver coordinated care within the Cardiology Clinic at Aurora's St. Luke's Medical Center. This role requires travel within the Greater Milwaukee Area and involves working Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm in 8-hour shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Medical assistant diploma from an Accredited Institution recognized by the US Dept. of Education
- Certified MA
- 2 years of verifiable medical assistant experience
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds
- Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force
- Must be able to perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills
- Must be able to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
- Must be able to perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required
- Must be able to travel within the Greater Milwaukee Area
Desired Qualifications
- Phlebotomy skills
- Minimum of 1-2 years clinical experience for this specialty
