Medical Assistant/LPN - Urology

Job Summary
Assist the provider and practice manager with patient care duties and administrative support throughout the urology practice. Interview patients, measure vital signs, record information in charts, and prepare treatment rooms for examinations. Perform miscellaneous delegated duties under provider direction while being cross-trained to enhance care delivery efficiency. Current Medical Assistant certification or Ohio LPN licensure is required. Medical assistants without certification are restricted from administering medication and entering Epic orders until credentials are verified. One-year clinical experience in a physician office is preferred, along with practical knowledge of examination processes, medical equipment, and electronic medical records.
Required Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification/registration as CCMA, CMA (AAMA), NCMA, RMA (through AMT)
- Completion of KHMG Medical Assistant Training Program or MA program through an accredited institution of higher learning
- Successful attainment of certification/registration within 15 months of hire
- Graduate of accredited LPN program (or equivalent)
- Current Ohio license (for LPN)
Desired Qualifications
- 1-year clinical experience in a medical/physician office setting
- Practical knowledge in examination process
- Practical knowledge in diagnostic and treatment room procedures
- Practical knowledge in medical equipment and instruments
- Practical knowledge in safety hazards and precautions
- Practical knowledge in confidentiality/discretion
- Experience with use of electronic medical records
Additional Requirements
- Medical assistants who are not certified/registered at the time of hire will be restricted from administering medication and entering Epic orders until the required credentials are obtained and verified
- Examples of medical assistants who are not certified/registered include: MA with on the job training only, MA who has completed an accredited program but has not passed the certification exam, MA who has a lapsed/expired certification, STNAs or CNAs with at least 6 months of direct patient care experience
