Job Summary
Obtain vital signs, reconcile medications, and collect patient history while facilitating flow in outpatient clinics. Manage the EPIC electronic health record, schedule appointments, process medication requests, and handle prior authorizations. Coordinate tests and procedures, and upon completing clinical competency, perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, and phlebotomy. Communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients, and physicians across Baptist Health's Lexington and Newton Pike locations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
- 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting
- Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG's, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines)
- Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
- BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire

Desired Qualifications
- Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus
- Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP
- Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure
