Job Summary
Assist physicians with patient care by preparing injections, taking vital signs, applying casts and splints, and performing suture removals. Complete H&P questionnaires, document all treatments in the EMR, and facilitate triage tasks and scheduled drug dispensing. Manage clinic flow by reviewing daily schedules, coordinating with the Office Manager, and ensuring exam rooms and instruments are prepared and sterilized. Issue prescriptions, physical therapy orders, and diagnostic orders per physician instruction while assisting with prior authorizations and patient education. Maintain strict confidentiality, track FMLA forms, and travel between clinic locations as needed to support efficient musculoskeletal care delivery.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year experience in a health care setting
- Must possess outstanding interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements, including OSHA regulations
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications, including our current EMR
- Ability to walk frequently and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to assist patients weighing up to 300 pounds
- Must have full range of motion
- Must have adequate visual acuity to read, the ability to interpret and understand written material
- Must have adequate hearing and speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others, including patients and co-workers
- Travel between clinic locations
- Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation and bodily fluids
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred graduation from an accredited course for Medical Assisting
- MA certificate preferred
