Job Summary
Support the patient and provider throughout the visit by ensuring preparation, answering questions, and scheduling surgeries. Perform basic laboratory tests, administer injections, collect specimens, and complete documentation including patient registration and preauthorizations. Serve as an informal leader, mentor, and resource for Medical Assistants by providing support, guidance, and training. Maintain clinical supply inventory, stay current on federal and state laws, and adapt communication styles to diverse patient populations. Work in a primary care clinic setting with minimal supervision across multiple specialty areas.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years years of experience as a medical assistant
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Advanced Clinical knowledge
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Ability to lift 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
- Ability to lift greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Residence in Louisiana (not in Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, or Washington D.C.)
