Job Summary
Verify patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming visit purposes. Perform preliminary physical tests, including taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, while preparing patients for examination. Conduct procedures such as venipuncture, ear lavage, and medication administration, and manage specimen handling. Execute administrative duties like chart preparation, phone answering, scheduling appointments, and processing direct referrals. Safeguard patient records by completing diagnostic and procedure coding while maintaining confidentiality. Maintain a safe work environment by inventorying supplies, managing stock, and performing preventive maintenance on equipment. Occasional travel may be required to cover other P3 offices or clinics as directed by management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- Completion of Medical Assistant course of study, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years clinical experience, including minimum 2 years in a managed care/HMO organization
- Experience applying medical management treatment guidelines and nationally recognized criteria, such as InterQual / McKesson, MCG, or other practical management guidelines required
- Familiarity with EMR's
- Knowledge of medical terminology required
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of vital signs and other clinical skills to obtain and maintain employment
- Proficiency with computer, software programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel) and internet required
