Job Summary

Review and update patient records, including test and lab results, before face-to-face or virtual visits. Greet patients, direct them to exam rooms, and perform initial screenings such as vitals and medical history documentation. Maintain exam rooms by cleaning between patients, stocking supplies, and ensuring infection control standards are met. Assist physicians and mid-level providers during examinations and alert staff when patients are ready to be seen. Work collaboratively in a high-stress environment while demonstrating diplomacy and cultural sensitivity. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are strongly preferred, and a valid Texas driver's license is required.

Required Qualifications

  • High school Graduate (or GED)
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • ability to travel as required to perform duties
  • Working knowledge of 'Universal Precautions'
  • Thoroughly understand the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure according to the general standards set forth by HIPAA
  • Current, valid CPR certification

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills at the level necessary for taking patients' medical histories, understanding provider and supervisor's instructions, and accurately documenting patients' medical information
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patient population and staff while demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and tact
  • Beginner to intermediate computing and phone skills
  • Demonstrates flexibility regarding job duties and assignments
  • Willingness to cross-train within other departments within your scope of duties
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment
  • Culturally sensitive and demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with ethnically diverse populations
  • Current, valid Certification of Medical Assistant
  • Bilingual English/Spanish and other languages
  • Valid Texas Driver's License, insurance
