Medical Assistant Laboratory Skills Instructor

Job Summary
Teach theory and practical applications in classroom, clinical practicum, and simulation settings while supervising students in laboratory and clinical environments. Manage student attendance, set educational objectives, and provide ongoing mentoring through hands-on demonstrations, competency evaluations, and signed skills checklists. Conduct phlebotomy, injections, vital signs collection, point-of-care testing, and CPR instruction in accordance with American Heart Association guidelines. Maintain classroom order, order medical supplies, and ensure safety through proper PPE use, sterile technique, and biohazard waste disposal. Work under the direction of the Program Director to maintain satisfactory relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or post-secondary education and relative experience to meet state (TWC) and ABHES accreditation requirements
- Current certification, registration, and/or licensure as a Medical Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), Medical Doctor (M.D.)
- Current Basic Life Support Provider-Instructor Certification through the American Heart Association
- CPR-AHA-Provider certification
- Current CPR and MA (or nursing/healthcare practitioner) certification/license
- Must be located in Austin
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years practical experience with teaching experience preferred
- 1 year teaching experience in healthcare or higher ed
