Job Summary
Medical Assistant at Swope Health Services in Kansas City, KS. Responsible for preparing patients for examinations and treatment, taking vital signs and medical/social history, assisting providers during examinations and procedures, and entering clinical data into the electronic health record under supervision. Duties include medication administration and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed. Requires completion of an accredited MA program or equivalent experience, relevant certifications (NRCMA/RMA/CMA/NCMA/CCMA) or documented relevant experience, BLS certification or ability to obtain within 3 months, and demonstrated ability to work with diverse patients and teams.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Graduated from an accredited medical assistant program
- Certified by NRCMA, RMA, CMA, NCMA, or CCMA or 2 years of experience in a private office, ambulatory care clinic, or hospital may be substituted for certification
- If not certified, may be asked to become certified as a future requirement of employment
- If not graduated from an accredited MA program, 5 years of experience in a private office, ambulatory care clinic, or hospital may be substituted for certification with future certification possible
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certified, or able to be obtained within 3 months of hire
- Must exhibit the ability to work with people (staff, visitors, and clients)
