Job Summary
Prepare patients for visits by taking and documenting vital signs, performing specialized tests, and preparing schedules while adhering to clinical protocols and regulatory requirements. Interact with patients, peers, and the health care team to answer phone calls and relay messages for providers or nurses. Act as a resource and role model for Medical Assistant and Patient Service Coordinator teams by applying clinical knowledge and demonstrating leadership skills. This role requires BLS certification and registration as a Medical Assistant or active LPN/RN licensure.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Completion of a recognized MA program at an accredited college or university or worked 1 year as an MA to meet the requirements to become certified
- Experience in the medical industry, including patient care or non-patient care roles
- Continuing education in a healthcare related area of study (in lieu of experience)
- Registration or Certification as a Medical Assistant through accredited body
- Active license from applicable state as an LPN/RN
- Current BLS course card from the AHA at time of employment, or obtain certification within 90 days of hire
