Job Summary
Implement and evaluate daily lesson plans, preparing lectures and practical demonstrations for Medical Assistant students. Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based on student needs, while monitoring classroom safety and advising learners on curriculum. Coordinate guest speakers, community field trips, and externships, and arrange visits to clinics and medical offices. Maintain student attendance and grades by updating records and transcripts at module end. Assist with inventory, ordering of supplies, and equipment. Requires current CMA or RMA certification, three years of practical Medical Assistant experience, and proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or a graduate of an otherwise recognized training entity (e.g., hospital-based program) in Medical Assisting
- A minimum of four (4) years of job-related training and experience for instructors not graduates from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Three (3) years of occupational (i.e., practical) experience as a Medical Assistant
- Current medical assistant registration or certification through a nationally recognized and accredited certifying agency (CMA or RMA)
- If applicable, in addition to the above criteria, must have a current license, certification, or other designation as required by local, state, or federal laws to work in the Medical Assistant field
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and computer skills
