Job Summary
Medical Assistant in Infectious Disease per diem provides patient care under physician/nurse supervision. Duties include taking vital signs, assisting with specimen collection and laboratory procedures, performing ECGs and phlebotomy, supporting special procedures (e.g., lumbar puncture, pelvic exam) following infection-control protocols, maintaining clean examination rooms, stocking supplies, and handling related clerical tasks (filing, insurance forms, chart preparation) to ensure efficient patient flow. Must adhere to universal infection-control standards, PPE usage, and documentation in the medical record; role requires organization, coordination with the care team, and compliance with ADA-defined essential functions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate OR 1-3 years experience as a medical assistant, emergency medical technician or certified nursing attendant (with valid certificate) OR Successful completion of the Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program
