Job Summary
Escort patients to exam rooms, triage for radiologic studies, and assist physicians with examinations and procedures. Prepare injectable medications, apply and remove splints and casts, and process prescriptions while educating patients on side effects. Coordinate referrals for therapy and home health, manage patient flow, and collect specimens. Perform wound care evaluations, chart patient history, and relay instructions to families. Clean exam rooms and sterilizers per OSHA protocols, restock supplies, and verify insurance coverage. Respond to incoming calls, secure diagnostic charts, and complete narrative summaries for attorneys and disability forms. Maintain a clean environment, attend in-service training, and resolve patient complaints while promoting professional image.
Required Qualifications
- Maintains CPR certification
- Stand or sit for extended periods of time
- Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
- Involves standing and walking
- Requires occasional lifting associated with patient transfers (i.e., up to 35 lbs.)
Desired Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (CMA) preferred
- CMA (AAMA) (Certified Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant), CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant), and NCMA (National Certified Medical Assistant) preferred
- Experience in an orthopedic healthcare setting is preferred
- Possess good working knowledge of practice management and EHR software, Google products, Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
- Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Good verbal and written communication and writing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well and communicate professionally with physicians, patients and staff in all levels in the organization. Able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time
