Job Summary
Escort patients to exam rooms, triage for radiologic studies, and assist physicians during examinations. Prepare patients for procedures, apply and remove splints/casts, and process prescriptions while educating patients on medication side effects. Coordinate referrals for therapy, home health, and surgical procedures, acting as a patient liaison to resolve problems. Manage appointment scheduling, verify insurance coverage, and secure diagnostic charts and reports. Complete clinical chart preparation, collect specimens, and perform screenings per provider guidelines. Maintain infection control by cleaning exam rooms, sterilizing equipment, and restocking supplies. Respond to incoming calls, direct inquiries, and handle workers' compensation updates.
Required Qualifications
- Maintains CPR certification
- Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Good verbal and written communication and writing skills
- Possess good working knowledge of practice management and EHR software, Google products, Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well and communicate professionally with physicians, patients and staff in all levels in the organization
- Able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time
- Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
- Involves standing and walking
- Requires occasional lifting associated with patient transfers (i.e., up to 35 lbs.)
Desired Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program is a plus
- Experience in an orthopedic healthcare setting is preferred
