Job Summary

The Medical Assistant III will perform complex patient-oriented procedures under supervision, ensuring safe patient care in an outpatient setting. Core responsibilities include assisting providers with exams and minor procedures, managing patient check-in/out processes, maintaining accurate documentation in electronic records, scheduling appointments, and handling administrative tasks such as billing and insurance verification. Required qualifications include a high school diploma, completion of a Medical Assistant program, and two years of experience in a clinic setting. Proficiency with electronic medical records and excellent communication skills are essential.

Required Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent
  • Specialized/technical training
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program.
  • 2 years Experience in outpatient or ambulatory clinic setting
  • Specialized patient-oriented procedures experience (ex. phlebotomy, sterile processing, or related)
  • Experience with an electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Ability to analyze clinical and administrative information and determine appropriate course(s) of action to resolve conflicts and discrepancies.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to work as a team member in hospital operations/ambulatory services setting.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Word & Excel software.
  • Ability to write concisely and clearly, edit, and proofread to ensure grammatically correct and factual correspondence.
  • Demonstrate professional and effective work skills to handle all responsibilities within a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with insurance.
  • Knowledge of Medical/CCS billing/authorization guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of patient-related testing equipment.
  • Skill in acquiring accurate medical histories.
  • Strong insurance verification and pre-registration background.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and diseases.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, Support Coordinator, and/or related role highly desired

Additional Requirements

  • Applicant must be able to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association if not already certified.
