Job Summary
The Medical Assistant III will perform complex patient-oriented procedures under supervision, ensuring safe patient care in an outpatient setting. Core responsibilities include assisting providers with exams and minor procedures, managing patient check-in/out processes, maintaining accurate documentation in electronic records, scheduling appointments, and handling administrative tasks such as billing and insurance verification. Required qualifications include a high school diploma, completion of a Medical Assistant program, and two years of experience in a clinic setting. Proficiency with electronic medical records and excellent communication skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- Specialized/technical training
- Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program.
- 2 years Experience in outpatient or ambulatory clinic setting
- Specialized patient-oriented procedures experience (ex. phlebotomy, sterile processing, or related)
- Experience with an electronic medical record (EMR)
- Ability to analyze clinical and administrative information and determine appropriate course(s) of action to resolve conflicts and discrepancies.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
- Ability to work as a team member in hospital operations/ambulatory services setting.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Word & Excel software.
- Ability to write concisely and clearly, edit, and proofread to ensure grammatically correct and factual correspondence.
- Demonstrate professional and effective work skills to handle all responsibilities within a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
- Knowledge and proficiency with insurance.
- Knowledge of Medical/CCS billing/authorization guidelines.
- Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of patient-related testing equipment.
- Skill in acquiring accurate medical histories.
- Strong insurance verification and pre-registration background.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and diseases.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, Support Coordinator, and/or related role highly desired
Additional Requirements
- Applicant must be able to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association if not already certified.
