Job Summary
Medical Assistant III in a neurosurgery clinic provides direct patient care and supports efficient clinic operations. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, completing phlebotomy, and verifying medications; preparing for exams and coordinating tests and procedures; assisting with examinations and lab tests; administering medications under physician orders (including vaccines and injections); supervising or coordinating other Medical Assistants; directing patient flow and handling scheduling, charting, and documentation; maintaining HIPAA/compliance, room readiness, and inventory; and contributing to care coordination and post-visit follow-ups.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- Licensed Practical Nurse - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
- Licensed Practical Nurse - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- Registered Nurse - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
- Registered Nurse - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
- Ability to show proof of Medical Assistant certification/registration with successful completion of certification exam within six months of hire date
- Basic Life Support certification (valid and complete)
- Substitutions include: RN/LPN or comparable allied health training with relevant experience
- Certification exams must be in-person where required
