Job Summary
Conduct direct patient care and clinical direction under supervision, ensuring completeness of ordered procedures and smooth patient flow. Perform general lab work, instruct patients on procedures and needs, and verify that medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately. Handle registration, scheduling, and front office functions while maintaining EMR files and entering physician orders as directed. Precept current Medical Assistant team members or externs when requested by leadership. Requires CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification, AHA BLS, and knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, ADA, and coding standards.
Required Qualifications
- AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current certification in medical assisting from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
- Knowledge of OSHA
- Knowledge of CLIA
- Knowledge of ADA
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program
- TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs
- Knowledge of Meaningful Use
- Knowledge of Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
- Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
- Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
- Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills
