Job Summary
Medical Assistant II in Urgent Care assisting clinicians with back-office and patient-care tasks, including vital signs, injections, patient preparation, data entry into EHR, and coordinating care with the patient-care team under clinician supervision. Requires HS Diploma/GED, medical-assistant training per California requirements or equivalent on-the-job training, BLS certification, and about 1 year of relevant experience; proficient in medical terminology, anatomy/physiology concepts, and basic computer/EHR use; strong communication and time-management skills. Full-time schedule with weekend variability in a Sutter Health Urgent Care setting.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED
- Completion of course of study for Medical Assistants per Medical Board of California OR Sutter Health on-the-job training equivalent to one year
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- 1 year of recent relevant experience
- General knowledge of medical procedures and terminology
- Ability to take vital signs, prepare patients for exam, and administer injections
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with computer applications (MS Office) and EHR
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize assignments and adhere to procedures
