Job Summary
Support providers and the patient care team with clinical and clerical tasks, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, administering injections, and updating electronic health records. Prioritize assignments, manage workflow interruptions, and collaborate with peers to ensure smooth department operations. Perform duties under clinician direction while maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to standardized policies. This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and one year of relevant experience. Schedule includes full-time days on Fridays, Mondays, Thursdays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Completion of a course of study consistent with the requirements for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
- 1 year of recent relevant experience
- Completion of Sutter Health on-the-job training in medical assisting equivalent to one year

- General knowledge of various medical procedures, views, and equipment
- Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Competence in basic Medical Assisting skills such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for exam, and administering injections
- Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines
- General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and electronic health record (EHR)
