Job Summary
Support 2 providers in a steady-paced Rheumatology clinic by performing patient rooming, discharge activities, and general lab work. Manage inbox tasks, charting, and EMR files while ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate completion of ordered procedures. Assist with registration, scheduling, and physician order entry as directed, and precept current team members or externs when requested. Maintain compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and ADA standards while utilizing knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, and insurance plans. Requires CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification and AHA BLS. Full-time role with 401(k) match and tuition reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
- AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program
- Current certification in medical assisting from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
- Knowledge of OSHA
- Knowledge of CLIA
- Knowledge of ADA
- Knowledge of ICD-10
- Knowledge of CPT coding
- TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs
- Knowledge of Meaningful Use
- Knowledge of Standard Work Programs and concepts
- Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
- Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
- Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
- basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills
Desired Qualifications
- Previous Medical Assistant or healthcare experience
- Strong communication skills
- Self-motivated and proactive with identifying and completing necessary work
- Comfortable managing both patient-facing and administrative responsibilities
- Able to work independently while contributing to a small, team-oriented department
- Other advanced life support certifications
- TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire
