Job Summary
Assist with onboarding and precepting new team members and externs while supporting teammates with patient care workload and daily clinic tasks. Complete prior authorizations, paperwork, and RightFax requests, monitor pooled inboxes, and provide lunch coverage as scheduled. Maintain point-of-care testing logs, perform general lab work, and conduct patient registration and scheduling activities under physician supervision. Report clinic observations, behavioral concerns, or policy issues to management and participate in outreach activities as directed. Ensure medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and maintain EMR files per organizational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Previous Medical Assistant experience (Minimum 1-2 years)
- Current Medical Assistant (MA) Certification
- AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program
- Current certification in medical assisting from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
- Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
- TB validated (to administer or read)
- Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
- Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
- Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
- Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills
Desired Qualifications
- TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred
