Job Summary
Conduct direct patient care and clinical direction under physician supervision, including completing ordered procedures, treatments, and general lab work. Ensure smooth patient flow, instruct patients on procedures and needs, and verify that medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and timely. Perform registration and scheduling activities, maintain EMR files, and execute general front office functions as needed. Precept current team members or externs when requested by leadership. This role requires AHA Basic Life Support certification, current CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC certification, and knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, ADA, ICD-10, and CPT coding. A high school diploma or Medical Assistant program graduation is required, with CMA certification preferred.
Required Qualifications
- AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current certification in medical assisting from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
- Knowledge of OSHA
- Knowledge of CLIA
- Knowledge of ADA
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program
- TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
- Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
- Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
- Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills
