Job Summary
Provides clinical and clerical support to orthopedic surgery team, back-office and patient-care tasks; assists with the medical plan of care; integrates education, technical competence, and patient interaction to gain confidence from patients and families; performs duties under direction of a clinician; duties include taking vital signs, preparing patients for exam, administering injections, and using EHR; requires HS diploma and BLS.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED
- Completion of course of study for Medical Assistants per Medical Board of California (must present diploma within 90 days)
- Completion of Sutter Health on-the-job training in medical assisting equivalent to one year
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- 1 year of recent relevant experience
- General knowledge of medical procedures, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Competent medical assisting skills (vital signs, preparing patients, injections)
- Ability to interpret data and instructions in written/oral/diagram/schedule form
- Written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EHR
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Ability to build collaborative relationships
