Job Summary

Perform direct patient care and clinical direction under physician supervision, ensuring completeness of ordered procedures and smooth patient flow. Conduct general lab work, instruct patients on treatments, and verify that medical orders and referrals are executed accurately. Manage registration, scheduling, and front office functions while maintaining EMR files and performing computerized physician order entry when directed. Precept current team members or externs as requested by leadership. This role requires AHA Basic Life Support certification and current CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or CMAC certification. Candidates must possess knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, ADA, ICD-10, CPT coding, and insurance plans, along with the ability to master standard clinical competencies. A high school diploma is required, with a Medical Assistant program graduation preferred. Full-time employment Monday through Thursday with no weekends or holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current certification in medical assisting from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • Knowledge of OSHA
  • Knowledge of CLIA
  • Knowledge of ADA
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • TB validated (to administer or read)
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs
  • Knowledge of Meaningful Use
  • Knowledge of Standard Work Programs and concepts
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
  • Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program
  • TB validation obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Other advanced life support certifications per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
