Job Summary
The Medical Assistant II (MA II) supports the delivery of urological services and functions as a key member of the interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include performing routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical office running smoothly, coordinating and scheduling patient appointments with physicians and staff, greeting and preparing patients, taking vital signs, documenting patient history and chief complaints, providing patient education on medications and disease management, performing routine phlebotomy and basic lab tests, conducting EKGs and assisting with X-ray and therapeutic procedures, preparing and administering medications with physician authorization, changing dressings, applying bandages, and assisting with in-office surgical procedures. The role also involves scribing as assigned, ensuring accurate and compliant medical records, maintaining patient logs, supporting HIPAA compliance, and contributing to office flow and turnover. Requires organizational skills, proficiency with EMR and practice-management software, ability to work independently, and strong communication skills. Education includes graduation from an MA program with preferred MA certification or registration; 6 months of physician-office experience (urology experience preferred); minimal travel. The position emphasizes patient care, administrative support, adherence to regulatory and ethical standards, and collaborative teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience (based on State regulation requirements).
- Medical Assistant Certification or Registration preferred.
- 6 months experience working within a physician’s office desired. Urology experience desired.
