Job Summary

Conduct clinical and administrative support for multiple Otolaryngology clinics at MGB Department of Otolaryngology, reporting directly to the Practice Administrator. Participate in direct patient care including vital signs, specimen collection, and EKGs under the supervision of a licensed independent provider, LPN, or RN. Manage administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying patient information, handling billing and co-payments, and performing telephone screenings. Rotate between Chestnut Hill and Longwood Clinics as needed. Work onsite at 830 Boylston Street for 40 weekly hours.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification]
  • Must be able to lift 35lbs+ (w/assisted device)
  • Must be able to carry 20lbs - 35lbs
  • Must be able to stand frequently (34-66%)
  • Must be able to walk frequently (34-66%)
  • Must be able to sit occasionally (3-33%)
  • Must be able to push occasionally (3-33%)
  • Must be able to pull occasionally (3-33%)
  • Must be able to balance frequently (34-66%)
  • Must be able to stoop occasionally (3-33%)

  • Must be available for rotation between Chestnut Hill and Longwood Clinics when needed
  • Must be able to answer and transfer telephone calls
  • Must be able to schedule and register patients for appointments/procedures
  • Must be able to confirm appointments/procedures
  • Must be able to prepare for patient visit by providing patient with all necessary information
  • Must be able to receive patient at arrival
  • Must be able to verify and obtain all necessary information
  • Must be able to ensure forms are completed
  • Must be able to ensure all billing/fiscal information is completed and submitted after visit
  • Must be able to collect and daily reconcile any co-payments
  • Must be able to assist with special projects as directed
  • Must be able to assist with training and orienting staff as needed
  • Must follow HIPAA guidelines for the management of patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Must appropriately utilize organizational resources including management of time, supplies, equipment and other assets

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree Medical Assisting
  • Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification]
  • Experience with Data Conversion
  • Experience with various issuers for certifications
