Job Summary
Provides clinical and clerical support to providers and the patient care team within Interventional Radiology by performing back office and patient-related tasks to support high-quality patient care. Assists with implementing the medical plan of care, integrates education and patient interaction to gain cooperation from patients and families, and supports workflow. Demonstrates basic medical assisting skills (taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, administering injections), interprets data and instructions, communicates clearly with diverse audiences, and collaborates with peers and healthcare providers to achieve department objectives. Works under the direction of a clinician, with a focus on time management, organization, and adherence to standard policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED
- Completion of Medical Assistant program or on-the-job training equivalent to one year per Medical Board of California
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
- 1 year of relevant experience
- General knowledge of medical procedures, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Ability to take vital signs, prepare patients for exam, and administer injections
- Strong communication skills with diverse audiences
- Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Office) and EHR systems
