Job Summary
Perform direct patient care and clinical direction under physician supervision, including completing ordered procedures, ensuring smooth patient flow, and conducting general lab work. Instruct patients on procedures and treatments while ensuring medical orders and referrals are executed accurately and timely. Manage registration, scheduling, and front office functions, including computerized physician order entry when directed. Maintain EMR files and precept current team members or externs as requested. Requires AHA Basic Life Support certification and current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification.
Required Qualifications
- AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current certification in medical assisting from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
- Knowledge of OSHA
- Knowledge of CLIA
- Knowledge of ADA
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
- TB validated (to administer or read)
- Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs
- Knowledge of Meaningful Use
- Knowledge of Standard Work Programs and concepts
- Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
- Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
- Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
- Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills
Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program
- TB validation obtained within 6 months of hire
