Job Summary
Medical Assistant II in Family Medicine. Responsible for rooming/visit tasks including vital signs, history taking, medication reconciliation, health maintenance reviews, allergy reviews, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health). Assists providers with procedures, performs lab duties (venipuncture, specimen labeling/packing, lab orders, and results tracking), conducts POCT per standing orders, and completes CLIA-waived tests. Administers medications and vaccines following medication administration rights. Supports workflows such as refills, insurance authorizations, scheduling, referrals, and patient messaging. Maintains clean, stocked work environment; may assist with training teammates and serve on committees. Must demonstrate age-appropriate care knowledge, growth and development principles, and the ability to interpret data to meet patient needs. Adheres to MA scope of practice and department policies. Proficient in electronic medical records, customer service, and effective communication. Physical ability to perform required tasks including lifting up to 35 pounds and handling patient movement with team support as needed. The role is within Advocate Health/Atrium Health family medicine clinics, with a focus on providing quality patient care and collaborative teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
- Current Medical Assistant certification from one of CMA (AAMA), CCMA (NHA), NCMA (NCCT), RMA (AMT), NRMA (NRMA), NRMA (NHCWA), NRCMA (NHP) or other recognized MA certs
- Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant
