Job Summary
Assist junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day responsibilities and facilitate their learning through onboarding training. Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment, and interview patients to obtain medical information, vital signs, weight, and height. Record data in patient medical records, explain treatment procedures and medications, and order educational materials. Perform general office duties including answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms while acting as a liaison with other departments. Collect blood, tissue, or laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if demonstrated competence. Maintain immunization inventory and check expiration dates, providing immunizations as applicable with supervision. Improve departmental quality initiatives regarding patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Basic Life Support [BLS Certification]
- Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software
- Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens
- Ability to take vital signs
- Ability to measure weight and height
- Ability to record information in a patient's medical record
- Ability to explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients
- Ability to order and organize educational materials to reinforce patient education

Desired Qualifications
