Job Summary
Conduct direct patient care and clinical direction under supervision, ensuring completeness of ordered procedures and treatments while assuring smooth patient flow. Perform general lab work, instruct patients on procedures and needs, and ensure medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately. Manage registration, scheduling, and front office functions including EMR file maintenance and computerized physician order entry when directed. Precept current team members or externs as requested. Maintain certification in medical assisting and hold AHA Basic Life Support certification.
Required Qualifications
- AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current certification in medical assisting from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
- Knowledge of OSHA
- Knowledge of CLIA
- Knowledge of ADA
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
- TB validated (to administer or read)
- Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs
- Knowledge of Meaningful Use
- Knowledge of Standard Work Programs and concepts
- Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
- Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
- Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
- Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills
Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program
- TB validation obtained within 6 months of hire
