Job Summary
Medical Assistant II at Atrium Health Charlotte MSKI Orthopedic Services. Provides medical assistant scope tasks including rooming patients, taking vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history taking, health maintenance and screening (depression, suicide, falls, social determinants of health), assisting providers with procedures, venipuncture and specimen handling, POCT and CLIA-waived testing, administering medications and vaccines, and performing related administrative duties such as insurance authorizations, scheduling, and referrals. Maintains clean and stocked work areas, supports onboarding of teammates as needed, demonstrates aging-related competence, and adheres to policies and procedures. Requires High School Diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or eligible military clinical training; certification as CMA or RMA and BLS; ability to meet role-specific competencies and to work in a fast-paced orthopedic clinical setting, with a focus on patient care and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or completion of structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EMT
- Certification / License as CMA or RMA by one of the following: AAMA, NHA, NHCWA, NCCT, ARMA, AMT, NAHP, NRMA, NCMA, CCMA, CMAC, AMCA
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
- Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency
- Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant
- Proficiency with electronic medical records systems and general computer skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
