Job Summary
The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care activities under the direction of a Nurse or physician, including administering medications and immunizations, conducting lab tests, and assisting with examinations and treatments. Responsibilities include clerical functions, collecting patient data, communicating patient needs, verifying insurance details, and ensuring compliance with medical protocols. Strong organizational skills and experience in outpatient environments are preferred, along with a completion of a Medical Assistant program or relevant certification.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or next level of higher education
- Strong leadership ability
- Good organizational skills
- Independent and critical thinking skills
- Sound judgment
- Knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics to diverse audiences
Desired Qualifications
- Previous outpatient office experience
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant program or experience as a Medical Assistant for one (1) year
- Certified EMT/Paramedic under the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
