Job Summary
The Medical Assistant I provides clinical support during routine visits under supervision, assisting providers with vital signs, EKGs, immunizations and vaccines, blood draws, and specimen handling; prepares exam rooms and ensures readiness of labs and discharge summaries; documents encounters accurately; operates medical equipment (EKG, audiometry, glucometer, spirometer, HbA1c meter, autoclave) and maintains vaccine administration protocols; follows the five rights of medication administration and barcode scanning; adheres to vaccine funding sources and OSHA/OSHA-related policies; assists in patient discharge, referrals, triage communication, and patient education; rotates to other clinic sites as required and supports language needs for diverse patients; requires High School diploma or GED, Medical Assistant certificate, and 160 hours externship or 1 year MA experience; proficient in computer use and EMR (EPIC preferred); must be able to type at least 35 w.p.m.; full-time position located in Daly City, CA; benefits include comprehensive medical/dental/vision and 401(k).
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited school
- 160 hours externship or 1 year of work experience as Medical Assistant
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR (EPIC a plus)
- Fluent in English; bilingual abilities (Chinese Cantonese and/or Mandarin, Vietnamese, Spanish) are assets
