Job Summary
Interview patients for health coverage programs like Medi-Cal and Covered California, collect necessary documentation, and educate families about available services. Greet patients, room them, obtain vital signs, and document history while performing procedures such as finger sticks, immunizations, and specimen collection. Provide discharge instructions, enter data into the electronic health record, and maintain equipment logs and temperatures. Disinfect treatment rooms, respond to patient messages, and participate in provider huddles to ensure clinic flow. Support community events and help teammates during downtime while recommending process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Satisfactory completion of an accredited medical assistant program in California
- CA Medical Assistant certification
- Phlebotomy Certificate
- Entry level position up to one year of experience
- Current CPR certification
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong data entry skills
- Electronic health record system
- Reliable transportation
Desired Qualifications
- CA Medical Assistant certification strongly preferred
- Phlebotomy Certificate strongly preferred
- Bilingual in English/Spanish/Dari/Punjabi/Vietnamese
