Job Summary
Medical Assistant I at Kernersville Sports Complex (Wake Forest Health Network) is a full-time role that supports internal medicine clinics. Responsibilities include preparing patients and rooms for exams, obtaining vital signs, collecting and documenting health information, assisting physicians/APPs with procedures (including pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy), administering routine medications under orders or standing protocols, performing basic to advanced clinical support tasks (e.g., laboratory procedures such as strep tests, wound cultures, phlebotomy, EKGs, spirometry, Holter monitoring), ensuring efficient clinic flow, and maintaining clear communication with patients and the health care team. Requires BLS certification, active Medical Assistant certification(s) from approved programs, and a high school diploma or GED with graduation from an accredited MA program. Preferred: Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting and 1 year of experience; strong interpersonal and computer skills; ability to work with age-specific patient needs. Compensation range listed, with comprehensive benefits and a 40-hour work week (Mon-Fri, 8:00 am–5:00 pm).
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA)
- MA certification from CMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) or CCMA (National Health career Association) or NCMA (National Center for Competency Testing) or RMA (American Medical Technologists) or NHCWA (National Healthcare Worker’s Association) or NRCMA (National Registry of Medical Assistants) or NRMA (National Registry of Medical Assistants)
- Current Medical Assistant certification from one of CMA/CCMA/NCMA/RMA/NHCPA/NRMA etc.
- Note: multiple MA certifications accepted (e.g., CMA, CCMA, NCMA, RMA, NRCMA, NRMA, NCMSMA, NHCWA)
