Job Summary

Prepare treatment rooms, verify patient visits, and record medical history in the EHR while administering health questionnaires and performing preliminary physical tests. Conduct specialized procedures under clinician direction, including nebulizer treatments, wound care, and specimen collection, while maintaining strict confidentiality. Coordinate patient flow, schedule follow-up appointments, and assist providers with examinations and medication administration. Complete and review patient records, ensure logs are accurate, and provide patient education on treatments and follow-up care.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic medical assisting practices and skills
  • Modern medical terminology
  • Chronic health conditions knowledge
  • Health education related to the service area
  • Working with modern computer applications
  • Electronic health records (EHR) proficiency
  • Administration of skin tests
  • Medication administration by injection
  • Methods of safely lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies
  • Cleaning and sterilization techniques for medical equipment, examining rooms, and patient areas
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or another specified language
  • Flexibility and ability to accept changes gracefully
  • Ability to work professionally and collaboratively in team-based care delivery
  • Comfort with direct patient contact
  • Solid interpersonal skills for patient education and coaching
  • Ability to work across cultures
  • Support of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Clear and efficient written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to participate with other staff on Saturday and evening rotation
  • Completion of an accredited MA Training program OR current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certificate
  • One year of hospital/clinic/medical office experience and completion of on-the-job training with documented sign off on all competencies within 90 days of hire OR completion of on-the-job training with documented sign off on all competencies within 90 days of hire
  • Certification from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), California Certifying Board of Medical Assistants (CCMA), or the Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) and other board approved medical assistant certifying organizations
  • Health clearances
  • Immunization records
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (or other languages) as required to meet the needs of the patient population
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 15 pounds in all directions and occasionally more
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Ability to bend, lift, push, pull, adjust, or move objects
  • Ability to repeat motions that may include the neck, wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Ability to reach above shoulder and/or below waist
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred Phlebotomy Certification
