Job Summary
Medical Assistant I in Gastroenterology provides patient prep and rooming with vital signs, assists with procedures (pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, colposcopy, etc.), administers routine medications under physician/APP orders or standing protocols, collects specimens, conducts lab procedures, supports test coordination and referrals, and helps maintain clinic flow. Requires BLS, Medical Assistant certification (multiple options accepted), High School Diploma or GED (Associate degree preferred), and 1 year experience preferred. Must be able to perform a range of clinical tasks and communicate effectively with patients and the health care team. Schedule is full-time, Mon–Fri, 40 hours/week.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Current Medical Assistant certification from one of the following is required: CMA from AAMA; CCMA from NHA; NCMA from NCCT; RMA from AMT; RMA from NCMSMA; NRCMA from NAHP; NRMA from NRMA; NRMA from NHCWA
